Kansas plant milestone part of 16,000 units of the model produced by company worldwide

The 10,000th Snorkel S3219E electric slab scissor lift has rolled of the assembly line at the company’s facility in Elwood in US state of Kansas, marking a major milestone for the access equipment specialist.
Designed and engineered in Elwood, the Snorkel S3219E was introduced in February 2015 as the first model in a completely redesigned family of electric slab scissor lifts for the company. Snorkel completed the 10,000th unit earlier this month, when it left the assembly line and passed its final quality checks.
The occasion was celebrated with a facility-wide luncheon for all employees. Company executives in attendance were owner Don Ahern, CEO Matthew Elvin, Elwood facility president David Smith and senior VP of sales for North America, Robby Hagan. Representatives from local vendors and component makers who supply the Snorkel S3219E production line were also present.
Speaking from the event, Don Ahern, said: “This is a proud moment for Snorkel, and particularly the Elwood facility who have historically been known for the production of boom lifts. When we redesigned the electric slab scissor range back in 2014, we really focused on making them rental tough, so to be producing the 10,000th unit here today is testament that these products are fulfilling the needs of our customers.”
The Snorkel S3219E is a 5.79m electric slab scissor lift which measures 0.81m wide. While Snorkel is highlighting the production of the 10,000th unit from its Elwood facility, the company has produced almost 16,000 units worldwide to date. A globally popular product, Snorkel manufactures the S3219E in four of its manufacturing facilities around the world.
David Smith, president of Snorkel’s Elwood facility, said: “I would like to congratulate our team here at Elwood facility on reaching this impressive milestone. I would also like to thank our vendors for their continued support. This is a great accomplishment which is truly a team effort.”
The completed 10,000th unit was displayed in a custom decal livery, and will be transferred to Henderson, Nevada, in the coming weeks to be displayed at the company’s showroom at their global corporate headquarters.
