Volvo Penta upgrades D13 genset with 500kVA power node

New quick-start TAD1346GE power node to be displayed at Middle East Energy in Dubai from March 7-9
Volvo Penta has upgraded its D13 genset with a new 500kVA power node with the ability to provide full power output the second it starts up, which is an essential feature for a backup genset in emergency/stand-by operations, such as in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies or data centres.
Equipped with the new TAD1346GE power node, the D13 500 kVA genset is smaller and lighter when compared to previous models, said Volvo Penta, which allows for downsizing, resulting in a smaller engine room, smaller alternator and ultimately fuel saving.
Through its partnership with USE-based Al Masaood Power Division, Volvo Penta will showcase its new D13 power node, the TAD1346GE 500 kVA, at Middle East Energy exhibition to be held in Dubai, March 7-9.
Kristian Vekas, product manager for generator engines at Volvo Penta, said: “The addition of the 500 kVA power node to our D13 genset engine is another step in this Volvo Penta journey. We are constantly improving and expanding our offering to support our global customers’ needs for today and tomorrow.”
The D13 500 kVA has a fuel-saving of 4-5%, compared to previous models. This is, in part, due to the quality and viscosity of the lubrication oil which influences the internal friction in the engine, which plays a vital role in fuel consumption.
