Nine firms in race for Bahrain community projects contract

Bids come in for project that includes development of 22 commercial outlets across the kingdom
Nine companies have filed bids in response to requests for proposals (RFP) for the construction of three community projects in Bahrain, which include the development of 22 commercial outlets across the country.
Bahrain's Eskan Bank said it has received the bids from top contractors for its project to develop single-storey buildings featuring shops and service areas in three areas across the kingdom. These include a 237.7 sqm of land in the northeast Muharraq area for setting up four shops with a total built-up area of 274 sqm; a 612.55 sqm plot of land in Samaheej for nine shops with a total built-up area of 675 sqm; and a 525 sqm area of land in Zallaq for setting up nine shops with a total built-up area of 585 sqm.
The bids have come in from Insha contracting with a bid amount of BD445,298.811; Contratech with BD632,420.046; Sayed Kadhem Al Durazi & Sons with BD448,119.694; Eastern Asphalt & Mixed Concrete Company with a bid of BD599,665.763; Al Shaheen Contracting with BD457,600; Zaedon Building Construction with BD463,746.360; Saraya Contractors Company for BD423,940; Jahecon for BD408,379.142; and Sarab Contracting Company with a bid amount of BD349,800.
According to the Bahrain Tender Board, the bidding was open only to firms who had carried out projects with the construction value of BD300,000 and above during the last three years.
On the criteria for the contractors, it stated that Esklan Bank preferred contractors who are prequalified and registered with the kingdom’s Ministry of Housing under Grade D and above and the Ministry of Works under Grade D and above construction projects.
