IVECO brings new heavy trucks to the Middle East and Africa

New and improved ‘Way’ range comprises heavy-duty T-Way off-road and S-Way long-haul trucks, optimsed for higher productivity and lower TCO
IVECO has launched its new range of heavy-duty trucks – called “Way”- in the Middle East and Africa markets, bringing in models that the company says are designed to deliver higher productivity, greater payload capacity, and enhanced safety and driver comfort compared to previous models.
Launched in Europe last year, the Way range is now being brought to the Middle East region in the form of the T-Way and S-Way models, which are engineered for extreme off-road and long-haul, on-road missions, respectively.

According to IVECO, the T-Way has been designed to offer robustness and torsional rigidity for best-in-class performance in every off-road mission. It carries over from its predecessors the robustness of a high-resistance steel chassis with a 10mm thick frame, with a rail bending moment at the top of the segment at 177kNm. The front axle has a maximum capacity of up to 9t while the rear axle has standard hub reduction to maximise strength and performance. The rear also has a new heavy-duty suspension system for tandem axles. This not only optimises weight but also improves off-road performance with greater ground clearance and a better departure angle.
The T-Way is powered by IVECO’s efficient 13-litre Cursor 13 engine that develops up to 470/480hp and transmits the power to the wheels via a 16-speed Hi-Tronix automated gearbox, which now also features new functions specifically intended for off-road mobility - including a hill holder function to help departure on steep slopes; the rocking mode to help recover traction in slippery conditions and the creep mode for ultra-low speed when idling. For the on-road sections of the mission, the Ecoroll function uses the vehicle’s inertia when travelling downhill to enhance transmission efficiency.
For on-road applications the IVECO S-Way is offered as a business solution for fleet owners and a travel companion for drivers. It further increases its fuel efficiency with a new engine line-up and next generation rear axle, advanced technologies tailored to the customers’ needs. IVECO says that the S-Way carries over all the advances introduced in the previous generations and adds a new cab, redesigned around the driver to provide a driving environment with an ergonomical controls layout.
The new roof is integrated into the front end of the vehicle, presenting a flat surface that minimises drag. A retractable front step provides easy access to the windshield but completely disappears when not in use. The front grille with high radius corners and side fins, the integrated headlights, the two new bumper designs with integrated deflectors, together with the new design of the wheel arches, create flowing lines that optimise air flow, says the manufacturer.
